Forever Mine (1999)

Directed by Paul Schrader

Forever Mine revels in romantic Sirkian melodrama--with allusions to Beatrice and Dante--holding fast to its faith in perfect, true love through every wildly improbable plot twist.  A diaphanous Gretchen Moll plays the trophy wife of a corrupt businessman (Ray Liotta) who is swept off her feet by the rapt attentions of Joseph Fiennes’ cabana boy while vacationing at a Miami resort.  When the affair is discovered, the husband exacts revenge but only ultimately defers what was always meant to be.
