Bottoms Up (1934)

Directed by David Butler

Tracy stars as a con man jockeying for position in Hollywood, trying to set up pretty Pat Paterson as a Hollywood star. Complications arise when hard-drinking actor John Boles takes an interest in the girl, and heartthrobs get in the way of best-laid plans. Tracy’s alcoholism and his relationship with Man’s Castle co-star Loretta Young were both matters of public record by the time of this picture’s release.
