The Juggler  (1953)

Filmed in newly-established Israel, The Juggler concerns German Jewish concentration camp survivor Hans Müller (Kirk Douglas), once a famous juggler in Germany, who has immigrated to Israel to begin life anew, though facing the hurdle of severe psychological trauma.  A rare American feature to treat Jewish experience and the Holocaust so directly, it also offered Douglas the space for a tour-de-force performance of international resonance.

35mm, b/w, 86 min.  PROD: Stanley Kramer.  DIR: Edward Dmytryk.  SCR: Michael Blankfort.  CAST: Kirk Douglas, Milly Vitale, Paul Stewart, Joey Walsh.
