As critic Marya E. Gates writes, the short “packs an emotional wallop that pushes you to reconsider everything.” Poignant then and even more urgent now, Make a Wish launched Dabis’ career after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival and being screened at festivals worldwide.

A radical thinker and cornerstone of Black liberation movements, Boggs — who died in 2015 at age 100 — transformed abstract philosophy into community action. At once personal and profound, American Revolutionary captures Boggs at 98, still questioning, teaching and evolving her vision of what it means to change the world.
