The Images of Blackness film series hosted by The Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies at UCLA returns for the Spring 2013 Quarter. Free and open to the public, the series will feature carefully curated film screenings and clips followed by panel discussions. This quarter, the series will focus on "Black Women in Film and the Normalization of Inequality," with the remaining two events taking place on May 2 and May 15.
The May 2 event brings L.A. Rebellion filmmaker Zeinabu irene Davis to present some of her work, while L.A. Rebellion co-curator Allyson Nadia Field will moderate the panel featuring Davis and fellow filmmaker Melissa Haizlip. The event seeks to examine the lack of representation and marginalization of Black women in the media and creative arts.
