"The beloved UCLA Festival of Preservation... is filled, as always, with a deeply satisfying cornucopia of films, forgotten gems and rarely revived classics that never fail to both astonish in their diversity and dazzle in their newly restored glory."—Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times
Every two years, the UCLA Festival of Preservation showcases classics of film and television, technical milestones, socially-conscious documentaries, seldom-seen independent features and other works newly restored and preserved by the UCLA Film & Television Archive, spanning a century of moving image media. Traveling titles from the 2019 festival include: Frank Borzage's WWII classic The Mortal Storm (1940), the Edward G. Robinson rural noir The Red House (1947), hilarious Laurel & Hardy shorts, the LGBTQ time capsule Gay USA (1977), the Fox musical comedy My Lips Betray (1933), and more.
