Poverty Row Films Preserved by UCLA Film & Television Archive
Mostly located in Hollywood on Gower Street between Sunset Boulevard and the Paramount lot, dozens of small independent studios like Grand National, Mascot, Republic, Monogram and Tiffany came and went in the 1930s and '40s, churning out genre films that often had an edge not seen in most films by the major studios of the day. UCLA Film & Television Archive has made it a mission to preserve and restore these works, and will be touring a selection to North American venues throughout 2019. Learn more about the films here.
