Matilda  (1996)

A uniquely precocious child whose many talents extend to the supernatural, Matilda (Mara Wilson) was born into a family of self-absorbed brutes who are unable to recognize the pint-sized wonder in their midst.  When she finds a kindred spirit in a teacher, Miss Honey (Embeth Davidtz), the two take on their tormentors in this charmingly offbeat—and slightly dark—fairy tale adapted from Roald Dahl’s novel.

35mm, color, 102 min.  DIR: Danny DeVito.  SCR: Nicholas Kazan.  CAST: Mara Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman, Embeth Davidtz.
