Title:

"Jackie Robinson obituary compilation—miscellaneous footage"

Date:
October 26(?), 1972

Synopsis

This footage contains three unrelated clips featuring Jackie Robinson. In the first, Robinson is seen meeting and greeting President Richard Nixon. Next, in an interview, Robinson discusses the need to raise low wages of working Americans, particularly "Black people, Puerto Rican people, and minority people..." Finally, Robinson speaks about narcotics addiction, his son's recovery from drug addiction, and the need to get surplus drugs out of home medicine cabinets. This footage duplicates some of the footage on roll SM2255 in can FE2692 T.

Note: The KTLA newsfilm collection at UCLA consists of cut and unedited stories, outtakes and fill footage, originally shot on 16mm reversal film stock with magnetic soundtrack. Some footage, particularly material not used for broadcast, may be without sound.
