Title:

"Commission on the Status of Women discusses women’s safety"

Date:
October 30, 1979

Synopsis

At a meeting of the Commission on the Status of Women, a woman offers a statement to the Commission about women wanting to be able to live life fully without limiting behavior or restricting activity for fear of being assaulted by men. A second woman discusses how concerns for police officer safety have resulted in inconsistent practices for the handling of family violence situations, which may leave the women in those situations at risk. She states the importance of standardizing procedures and training so women in those situations will feel like they have an advocate on scene. Several shots of the meeting lack sound.
