"Affirmative action program to expand opportunities for women within LAUSD"

Tom Hunt of the Center for Law in the Public Interest and Roberta Weintraub of the Los Angeles School Board speak to reporters about the new consent decree establishing an affirmative action program to open job opportunities within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to women. The decree comes in response to a sex discrimination lawsuit filed by the Center for Law in the Public Interest, and is meant to create more job opportunities at higher administrative levels, such as principal, and also requires a good faith effort to guarantee that at least 40% of applicants are women.
