"Governor Jerry Brown and Mayor Tom Bradley discuss implications of Proposition 13"

Date:
May 31, 1978

Synopsis

Stan Chambers reports on a meeting between city officials, the mayor and the Governor to address a contingency plan in the event that Proposition 13 passes. Mayor Tom Bradley talks about the losses the city of Los Angeles would suffer, and the need for drastic cuts, as only small amounts of state funding would be available. Governor Jerry Brown encourages the people of California to defeat Proposition 13 and vote for Proposition 8. At the state level, Brown indicates they will be looking at cutting back on parks, salaries, and cost of living increases, while deferring new programs, maintenance and new building. Clip includes footage of Brown and Bradley talking, shots of reporters, and Chambers filming his material, as well as footage of the Mayor's office and City Hall.
