Senator Edmund Muskie hosted a meeting of black leaders in Watts. Tom Bradley was present at a meeting in Watts where they all discussed issues such as unemployment and transportation. At one point, Senator Muskie was asked should he decide to run for president, would he have a white man on the ticket as his vice president. Bradley recounts the meeting and the senator's response. In separate statements, Bradley and Yorty offer two very different reactions to Muskie's response to that question.
