Synopsis

UCLA basketball coach John Wooden is presented the Whitney M. Young Achievement Award during a dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The award is based on achievement in furthering humanitarianism. Sammy Davis, Jr. speaks and presents the trophy to Wooden. City Councilman Tom Bradley gives a speech and presents Wooden with a resolution from the Los Angeles City Council. John Wooden accepts the award and gives a speech about character. Includes footage of the Masters of Ceremonies, KTLA reporter Larry McCormick and NBC sportscaster (and former Laker) Tommy Hawkins.
